introduction
In 1995, the clients and staff of ProClinica were merged into Emmerling Post advertising agency, into EP Health/Tec, a facility set up to provide that agency with a healthcare promotion capability. During the approximately 18 months of that period, where Mel Snyder was managing director, several notable achievements were recorded:
- A business development team headed by Mel landed the $10 million account of preferred provider GHI.
- Yamanouchi (now Astellas), a ProClinica consulting account for more than 4 years, became a promotional account, for the launch of that company's oral fast-melt drug delivery technology, WOW-Tab. Consulting assignments included new business development for WOW-Tab, and participation in long-range planning for Yamanouchi's former multilevel marketing company, Shaklee.
- ProClinica client Terumo, the Japanese hospital IV company, hired EP Health/Tec to explore two U.S. technologies for potential acquisition and entry into the Japanese market.
- EP Health/Tec helped Emmerling Post client Cowles Media to convert its Walking magazine into a corporate exercise program for managed care organizations.
- Former ProClinica client Tsumura, then the world's largest ($600 million/year) herbal drug company, continued as a business development client, exploring the multilevel marketing and specialty distribution avenues in the U.S.
- Immunomedics hired EP Health/Tec to develop a new corporate advertisement, and two educational monographs on it colorectal cancer imaging agent, CEA-Scan.
In early 1997, Mel left EP Health/Tec to become a marketing consultant to Immunomedics.
